Retaining Walls.

Retaining walls hold back soil to help change levels or create usable flat spaces on steep slopes. We can build retaining walls from various timber or concrete options to suit your Christchurch property. While not all walls require consent, we build them all to meet the Building Code and stand the test of time.

Landscaping FAQs

What is the best time of year to landscape a garden?

While hard landscaping work (fences, decks, paving, etc) can be undertaken any time of year in Christchurch, consider the time of year if your plan involves anything that grows. Autumn and Spring are the best times of year to sow new lawns (or install ReadyLawn), and trees or shrubs are best planted at the end of Winter. We can help advise the best time of year for your specific project.

Will I need to coordinate any non-landscaping parts of the project?

A good landscaper will also manage your landscaping project. Where it suits you, we can run the project from idea to completion. That means taking care of site clearing, rubbish removal, diggers or other machinery, materials and deliveries, as well as engaging any specialist trades. You get back to sit back and watch the magic happen!

What do I need to consider when planning to landscape my Christchurch property?

Start from your outcome - if you plan to sell the property in the near future then you’ll want to bring in garden and backyard elements that appeal to the wider population. If you plan to enjoy your property for years to come then plan your outdoor living to meet the needs of your household. You could consider:

  • Entertainment/ relaxation areas - such as decks, patio areas, garden nooks or bench seats.

  • Gardens that suit you - you may prefer low maintenance areas, or entire garden beds and multiple planter boxes.

  • A pool, spa, sandpit, or playground area - fun for the whole family!

  • Highlighting key features of your property such as views, and consider how to best utilise the sun direction and shade structures.

  • Themes and colours that may already be used on your house, and think about how to create links or flow between spaces.
