Your gate is often the first thing visitors experience.

When someone notices your gate, it’s normally because it’s stopped working like it should. Gates serve as your point of entry, and in an ideal world should do their job without being noticed.

Gate FAQs

Which style of gate is best for me?

Any gates on your property should match your property in design, with the easiest method to match materials and design to any nearby fencing. The method of opening depends on the use case, budget, and preference too.

What materials should I choose for my gate?

Gates can be made out of any material to match your nearby fencing, and we’re happy to make recommendations for materials. Quite often a wrought iron gate can look great on a timber fence. Sometimes with timber gates it can be a good idea to build them with an aluminium frame to provide robustness for longer.

How can I avoid sagging gates?

Over time, gates require maintenance and repair to continue to open and close like new. Gates that are built quickly and on a tight budget are likely to sag sooner. Because gates put a lot of load on the connecting end, it’s worth investing in materials and workmanship that will see your gate last many years, as opposed to mere months before sagging.

What are your top tips to increase the lifetime of a gate?

Other than keeping it clean, try to keep your gate closed when not in use. A gate is strongest when latched close as it is supported by two points rather than one - then the wind can’t catch it and bang it around to cause damage.
Also try to avoid excess weight on the gate, whether that is people climbing over the gate, or kids hanging on the gate, and trim back tree branches that come to rest on the gate.
